Our Enduring Love Affair with Scotland
We’ve had some year at first4playgrounds!
Those of you that follow us on our various social media platforms will be aware that we have spent a significant amount of time in 2023 in Bonny Scotland, with its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture and deserved reputation for extending a warm welcome to everyone.
We started our journeys North in March with a visit to the wonderful Holy Island on the Northumberland Coast. Yes we know this is not part of Scotland, but because it’s so stunning it deserved a special mention!
Holy Island First School
At Holy Island First School we managed to transform their somewhat unloved and unused play area into a sparkling and snappy new playground extravaganza!
Here’s the end result of our days hard work.

Royal High Primary School
We continued North up to Edinburgh and the warm and friendly Royal High Primary School. The team started with a 1-25 Number Spiral before moving on to a colourful Alphabet Tree. Next up was a fabulous Spell Jump before moving around the corner for a Smiley Clock! We then finished with a wickedly scary Danger Trail. A brilliant day in Edinburgh for the team and a wonderful transformation for all the excited children!
Cuthbertson Primary School
Amidst trips to Essex, Manchester and Stoke we then headed back up to Edinburgh to Cuthbertson Primary School and another wonderful transformation.
It was time to move on from Edinburgh and bless Perthshire with our presence and wonderful makeover skills and inspiration.
Arngask Primary School
Our welcoming hosts in bonny Perthshire wer Arngask Primary School.
With some imagination, lots of colour and some talented staff we created a playground area full of inspirational ideas for all the children.
Ann Bank Primary School
The end of April saw the team head further North this time to bright and breezy Ayr where we visited Ann Bank Primary School.
Ayr is a very popular seaside resort which has a charming sea front and a fantastic esplanade with a long Sandy beach.
We worked closely with the school to come up with some vibrant and colourful designs for their play area. They were delighted with the results a selection of which are shown below.
The next instalment of our Scottish Adventures saw the team head off to the Isle of Arran and 7 schools in 5 days… read all about that exciting and productive trip here.
