Making a UK Playground Markings map with all the Counties In Liverpool

5m x 4m UK Map showing all the counties of the United Kingdom

At first4playgrounds we were instructed by Headteacher Charlie Newstead of St Josephs Primary School in Liverpool to design and install a 5m x 4m UK Map showing all the counties of the United Kingdom. The criteria for the design was outlined in the new Primary School curriculum which makes schools teach Key Stage 2 children the location of capital cities, counties as well as the major rivers of the UK. Once the design had been approved it was up to our design team leader Clifton Knoxwell to prepare the template and arrange for each county to be fabricated individually and reassembled. The making of Scotland proved to be a relatively straightforward affair…….

However England proved to be a little more challenging for the talented Mr Knox! Once completed it was down the A1(M) and across the M62 to the loverly Liverpool!

One site the assembly of the giant jigsaw began….

Fortunately we were blessed with pavement cracking weather in Liverpool over the Easter Holidays and our installation manager Handsome Eric Thorpe took every opportunity to top up his Tenerife tan during the installation.

On completion we thought the UK Map with Counties looked really great! Hope you agree.
